The most common reason for this problem is that you select "Save" from the File menu, or hit the "Save" icon.
When you do that, Excel tries to save the spreadsheet where it got it - in my server account. So of course it asks for a password.
The cure is to select "Save As" from the File menu. A dialog box will then ask you where you want to save the spreadsheet on your own computer.
